The Santa Barbara Suites and Hotel - WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

The best location. Close to everything! This vacation rental in Manzanillo has everything you need! The premise of Long Stay is that you stay in a modest apartment and pay less so you can stay longer. If you have in your mind a vision of an all inclusive condo then this is not the place for you. Although there are some planned activities and trips it is basically a self-catered vacation. The apartments are not fancy but they are clean, safe and comfortable. You will notice that, (compared to your own home) they are quite basic however, you will quickly realize that they have everything you need and you will soon feel at home. You are staying in a tropical climate and you may occasionally see a bug. If you alert the staff they will look after this. The buildings are all sprayed regularly and this keeps them free of insects for the most part. Mexico Extended Saty, Manzanilllo Extended Stay 

All the apartments have a master bedroom, guest bedroom, 2 bathrooms with showers, living/dining area and a galley-style kitchen. They are cooled by ceiling fans and since all of the apartments go from the back of the building to the front, you almost always have a cross breeze. The kitchen has a fridge, stove (gas), coffee maker, toaster, blender and very basic supplies of pots, pans, dishes, cutlery etc. All towels, bed linens, hand soap and toilet paper are supplied and the apartments are cleaned every other day. None of these buildings have a balcony or a view of the ocean, but the beach is less than a five-minute walk away.

The Santa Barbara Suites are actually four different buildings all in the same area. The most economical of these is Santa Barbara Street. These apartments are identical to the others but because of the location right on the street the price is lower. Santa Barbara Central is directly behind with a palm filled walkway dividing the two buildings. The price for this building is higher because it is shielded from the street noise by the front building. The last two buildings are located at the back of the property and are called Santa Barbara West A and B. These two buildings are decorated in typical Mexican style and the location proves to be quieter than the front two buildings.

The front lobby is located on the street level and is a good place to get information or help. If you need a refill for your purified water you leave a note or tell someone what you need. There is a corkboard with notices of trips you can sign up for, general information and announcements of special dinners, barbeques etc. Through the years we have developed a library in the front lobby area. These books are available to everyone at no charge. If you have brought books with you that you don’t care to take home please contribute them to the library. Thanks. You will be introduced to Alex the Events Coordinator who will give you an Information booklet of tips and ideas of what to do, where to go and how to do it. He arranges trips and events for the guests and is very well liked and appreciated.

SANTA BARBARA STREET AND SANTA BARBARA CENTRAL

These buildings are accessed by stairways, which crisscross over the walkway between the two buildings. There are two apartments at each landing and there is room to put a couple of chairs here but I would not go so far as to call it a balcony. These apartments go right through the building so you can get a good cross breeze. The beds and sofas in these apartments are made of concrete. This sounds unusual but it is really OK as there is a platform with good mattresses on the beds and cushions on the L-shaped sofa. The dining table is wooden with four chairs.

The galley style kitchen is a continuation of the living/dining area separated by a large counter. The equipment includes, counter top stove without an oven, toaster oven, refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, blender, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils. The closets in the bedrooms have open shelves and a rod for hanging clothes.

Santa Barbara “B” is directly behind “A”.  If you really want peace and quiet, this is the building for you. As with the other apartments, you enter from the palm filled corridor. Although the pool is just around the corner you are shielded from the noise and as you are a fair distance from the street you hear very little traffic noise. One of the nice things about Mexico is the exuberance of the Mexican people. There is always music playing somewhere and it is impossible to find a place that is absolutely quiet. If you are looking for a little more comfort but still want affordability; then Santa Barbara West is the place for you. Note: The top two floors of this building are not available to us because they are rented to Mexican professionals.
